Custom Code lets you add HTML, JavaScript, or CSS to every page of your Cyncly Websites site. It's most often used for code from another service, like a chat tool, analytics, or an advertising tag.
What you can do here
- Add code inside the head of every page
- Add code inside the body of every page
- Add CSS to change how your site looks
Add or change custom code
- In Homebase, go to Website Builder > Advanced > Custom Code.
- Under Custom Code, select the Head or Body tab, depending on where the code needs to go.
- Paste or type your code into the editor.
- Select Save at the top of the page.
Save only becomes available after you've changed something. It saves the Head, Body, and Custom CSS fields together.
Add custom CSS
- In Homebase, go to Website Builder > Advanced > Custom Code.
- Under Custom CSS, paste or type your CSS into the editor. Enter the CSS rules only, without
<style>tags. - Select Save.
Your custom CSS loads after your site's other styles, so your rules take priority over the site's built-in styles.
About Head and Body
Every web page has two main parts. The head holds information browsers and search engines read, and the body holds what visitors see. The service you're adding usually tells you which one to use.
- Head: Code here loads before the page content. Use it for code a service says to place "in the head" or "before the closing head tag."
- Body: Code here loads at the end of the page, after your content. Use it for code a service says to place "in the body" or "before the closing body tag."
To verify your site with Google, Facebook, or a similar service, don't add the verification tag here. Use Website Builder > SEO > Site Verification instead.
Before you save
Code in these fields runs on every page of your site. A mistake, like a missing closing tag, can change how your pages look or stop parts of them from working. Copy the code exactly as the service gives it to you, and check your site after saving. If something looks wrong, remove the code you just added and save again.
What if I see an error?
- "Error updating custom code": Your changes didn't save. Refresh the page and try again.
If you can see the code but can't edit it, you don't have permission to change these settings. Reach out to support if you need access.
